Hi my name is Lauryn and I am the founder and creator of Alpine Kolibri. I, along with my loving and supportive family, began AK with nothing but a little bit of a dream and a whole lot of moxie. Years in the making, growing flowers started for me as a small little flower journey admiring my grandmother’s flowers that she would have around her home. I would often fantasize of having a small little secret cottage garden where I could escape and be among the flowers and connected to nature. As time went on, I drifted quite far away from that dream with my education and life circumstances but I always kept growing every year. I started with a small vegetable garden, then pivoted to house plants, and with the pandemic along with a gift from my grandfather came flowers. I am still green to all of the intricacies of flower growing, but I am determined to learn and share every breath of information with anyone who is also looking to grow but doesn’t have acreage to do so.
While these are not their birth or given nicknames, Midi and Mini provide an integral part of the AK family and participate throughout the ongoing development of the family farming journey. Being big on privacy and the importance of children’s choice in their exposure, Lauryn and Kevin have equivocality decided that any references to the children should be referenced as such. They may pop up here and there and will be spoken about but will not be focused on until they are of age to be able to decide for themselves.
Hobbes is a farm family old man. Recently hitting the double digits, you will often find Hobbes sunbathing in the grass relaxing and supervising the activity around the yard. Winter, however, is a rapid-fire exception to all the tranquility that Hobbes offers. Quick to announce herself and family members, you will often hear Winter before seeing her. Once she has established that you are safe, she happily loafs in your direction for all the love and attention that you are willing to give her.
